Q. How do I change the Time & Date?

A. This depends on which Toshiba phone system you have.  In general, the following should work: Go to the Receptionists phone (usually extension 10 or 200), and follow these steps:

For the Date:

  1. Press the Intercom key
  2. Dial " # 651 "
  3. Enter the date in the form YYMMDD
  4. Press " # "

For the Time:

  1. Press the Intercom key
  2. Dial " # 652 "
  3. Enter the time in the form HHMMSS
  4. Press " # "

When entering the time, be sure to use "Military Format" – if its after 12 noon, add "12" to the hours… example, 2:30:00 pm would be "143000."

Q. I don't know the password for a Voicemail box?

A. For security reasons, you'll have to give us a call.  We'll be happy to reset a password for you.

Q. My Message Light is blinking but I don't have any new messages.  Why is the Message Light on?

A. One feature of Toshiba phone systems is the ability to call an extension – then press your message light, or certain digits – to light up the message light of the extension you dialed.  Unfortunately this often happens purely by accident.  Fortunately, the fix is simple: Press Intercom, then " # 409 " this will clear the message light.

Q. When I’m on a phone call I can hear other calls ringing in on my handset.  What causes that?

A. If you are on the phone, and you hear another line ringing in your handset, you can turn the ringing in the handset off by pressing Redial, and Vol Down at the same time.

Q. When I try to press " # " or " * " it doesn't work.  Why?

A. On older Toshiba phone systems the " # " key is used as a Redial key, and the ‘*’ key is used as a Speed Dial key.  In order to turn this feature off, you must press " * # "  this tells the phone system that you wish to send the " # " or " * " as a tone.  At the end of your call, they will revert back to their Redial and Speed Dial functions.

Q. How can I use a headset without always lifting the phone handset?

A. If you wish to connect a headset to your Toshiba phone – the best way to do this is with the installation of an "HHEU" module to the phone.  This inexpensive option allows the headset to control the phone.  Give us a call for details.

Q. The time on our Voicemail is off.  How do I set it?

A. There is an "Administrator" mailbox that gives you the ability to change the time, add new users, reset passwords, and various other options.  For security reasons, we'll be happy to help you with this if you'll give us a call.

Q. Can I add Music on Hold (MOH) to this phone system?

A. Yes.  All Toshiba phone systems have a built-in MOH jack.  All you need is the appropriate cable and a music source.  For several reasons, we recommend that you use a CD player, rather than a radio.   Be sure that the CD player is one that has speakers.  The small portable CD players don't have the output power needed for MOH.  If you wish a Technician to install your Music on Hold – please give us a call.

Dial also sells a Digital MOH box – that has the ability to provide company announcements or advertising during the hold music.  Please call us for further details.

Q. Can I plug my modem or fax into my Toshiba phone line?

A. No.  Toshiba phones are digital phones that communicate with the Toshiba main computer.  The jack where your Toshiba phones plug in does not have a dial tone that modems or faxes can use.  We'll be happy to install the correct type of jack for your modem or fax needs.

Q. Does Toshiba support VOIP (Voice over IP) functionality?

A. Yes.  Toshiba products support a wide range of IP solutions for lower cost telecommunications.  If you'd like to explore options for lowering your communication costs – let us know, and we can assist you.
